We start with stickers, M&M’s, or Skittles as a reward for every trip to the potty where no accidents take place. There’s also a bigger reward available for no accidents all day (candy bar) and special outings (potty party) to celebrate big milestones (filling sticker chart, no accidents in a week, etc.). We thank God for Lydia’s determination to get out of diapers and be a big girl!
Lydia is getting to be such a big girl! She started potty training a few months ago and has been having very few accidents. Sarah has been a great role model for her to follow and using rewards are a great way to encourage good potty practices.

Gabriel has been growing like crazy and now that he’s had a taste of real food, it seems like he’s always hungry. Not only does he clean his plate, but usually Gabriel will finish his sisters' leftovers too! We've always heard that boys will "eat you out of house and home," but we figured that wouldn't happen until the teen years. Of course, he needs nutrients for energy to keep up with Sarah and Lydia… especially since Gabriel has started walking! Out of nowhere, he decided to stand up and start taking steps. Watch the video below to see some of his first steps. Many (if not all) of you know by now that we finally closed on our new home recently. Well, what you might not know, is just how amazing God was throughout the process! He was in complete control of everything "and we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28) Let's start with the fact that we never believed it was possible to get a loan to buy our house. We've made some poor financial choices in our younger years. Our annual income is below the Federal Poverty Line. The ability to save money for a down-payment was virtually non-existent. God was able to work out all the details though and not only did we scrounge up over $3,000, we only needed $1,121! On top of that, the seller forgot to reimburse us for our earnest money and gave us a check at closing for $500... making our final closing costs a little over $600! We also figured that there was no chance of paying the monthly mortgage amount every month, because you have to add taxes and insurance. Well, God was gracious to us again because our monthly payment (including taxes and insurance) is over $100 LESS than we were paying for rent! Of course, we knew that the homes in our price range would need work, but God has taken care of all that too! The house we purchased was totally renovated by the seller (a bank) right before we came to look at it. A new paint job, new carpet, new cabinets, new appliances, and a new tub are just a few of the upgrades! The hot-water tank went bad, but the seller paid for a home warranty, which gave us a brand new one for $200 (including installation by professionals)! People have been very generous as well by donating furniture, blinds, food, and even a high-efficiency washer and dryer! We are so grateful to our Lord Jesus Christ for all that He does! This information is not shared to boast in our belongings, but to boast in the One that provides us with everything we need and even some of our desires. It is clear to us that God means for the Muniak family to minister in the Cincinnati area for quite some time! |
